Music has the remarkable ability to express emotions that words
alone often cannot.
For songwriter and lyricist Linda Algozzini, music became more than a creative outlet, it became a pathway to healing, hope, and purpose. Behind every lyric she writes is a story of resilience, faith, and unconditional love, proving that even life’s greatest tragedies can give birth to something profoundly meaningful.
Born Linda Carol Mooney and raised in Kansas City and Independence, Missouri, Linda’s love for music began long before she ever considered writing songs professionally.
Music filled her childhood and remained a constant companion throughout every stage of her life.
Whether listening to records, singing along to the radio, or dancing around her home, music was always present.
Music has always been Zen for me, Linda explains. It has always been the place where I found peace.
During high school, she embraced every opportunity to express that passion. She performed in the school’s Acapella Choir and became part of a four-person vocal group called The Hims and Hers, performing at local community events. Although she initially considered majoring in music during college, practicality led her in another direction.
Instead, Linda pursued a career in education, dedicating much of her professional life to helping others learn and grow. Throughout her educational career, she authored books, research articles, and numerous academic publications, never realizing that the same creative gift she used in education would one day transform into songwriting.
Looking back, she believes there was a greater plan unfolding.
I should have recognized earlier that I could write music just as naturally as I wrote educational materials, she reflects. But there is Divine timing in all things.
That Divine timing arrived under heartbreaking circumstances.
On November 17, 2021, Linda experienced every parent’s worst nightmare – the loss of her beloved son. She was 71 years old when tragedy changed the course of her life forever.
Grief has a way of transforming people, and for Linda, it awakened something that had quietly lived inside her for decades. Instead of allowing sorrow to consume her, she turned to songwriting as a way to process unimaginable pain, preserve her son’s legacy, and offer hope to others experiencing their own struggles.
The result was three deeply personal songs that now form the heart of her musical journey:
Love Essentials honors the essence of her son, her compassion, her kindness, and the way she viewed every human being with love and dignity.
The lyrics were inspired by writings he had shared on MoreLove.org before his passing.
Finding 2nd Gear reflects her son’s philosophy of life. He believed people were capable of achieving far more than they imagined and encouraged others to push beyond mediocrity toward excellence.
The song draws inspiration from one of his essays published on Medium.
To Live Again represents Linda’s own journey through grief. Written from the emotions she experienced just days after losing her son, it explores the difficult process of finding meaning, purpose, and hope after profound loss. It grew from a personal piece she wrote entitled Love and Death Entwined only three days after his passing.
Rather than allowing grief to define her, Linda chose to transform it into something capable of comforting countless others.
While Linda provides the lyrics, bringing these songs to life required an extraordinary team of gifted musicians and collaborators who shared her vision.
One of the most significant people to enter her life was vocalist and musician Lois Mahalia.
Their friendship developed naturally and ultimately became one of the greatest blessings in Linda’s creative journey.
Without Lois believing in my mission and my lyrics, Linda says, these songs would never have become published.

Released in 2025, the recordings represent far more than music they represent healing, collaboration, and faith.
Interestingly, Linda doesn’t approach songwriting by thinking about genres or commercial trends. I simply write from my heart, she says.
Sometimes a title arrives before the first lyric is written. Other times, it emerges naturally as the song develops.
She allows emotion to guide every word, believing authenticity is far more important than fitting neatly into any particular musical category.
Her songs are rooted in genuine human experiences love, grief, hope, resilience, awakening, and transformation.
And she is far from finished.
Linda currently has five new songs completed and waiting to be recorded.
One reflects on her own life journey.
Three explore meaningful relationships and life-changing connections she has experienced over the past five years.
The fifth captures what she describes as her personal awakening.
Her hope is that these songs will continue helping listeners discover healing, strength, and understanding within their own lives.
Music heals on so many levels, she explains.
Every artist who sings a song brings their own soul and interpretation to the lyrics.
That is the beauty of music.
Although many artists measure success through charts, awards, or financial achievements, Linda’s motivation comes from an entirely different place.
Of course, she would welcome financial success from her music and podcasts.
Like any independent creator, additional income would help continue her work.
However, commercial success has never been the driving force behind her creative mission.
Instead, Linda hopes every listener discovers reassurance within her songs that no matter what loss, obstacle, heartbreak, or challenge they face, they are never truly alone.
She wants people to understand that healing is possible.
She wants them to know hope always returns.
She believes that just as darkness gives way to sunrise every morning, the human spirit can also emerge from its deepest seasons stronger and more compassionate than before.
The three-song EP also serves as a lasting tribute to her son, a legacy that celebrates his character, values, and impact rather than allowing his story to be defined solely by the tragedy of his death.
Above all, Linda’s message is one of courage, faith, and perseverance.
Her advice to anyone pursuing a dream or simply navigating life’s uncertainties is heartfelt and timeless:
"Never say never. Have faith that when your thoughts, actions, and words are aligned with your heart and soul, something will be placed in your path. The key is having the awareness to recognize it when it arrives, because it will be perfectly timed. Know your worth, embrace it with courage, and move forward with resilience."
Linda Algozzini’s story reminds us that purpose often appears when we least expect it.
Through loss, she discovered a voice. Through grief, she found healing. Through music, she continues to offer hope to people she may never meet.
Her songs stand as a testament that love never truly disappears; it simply finds new ways to be heard.
